What Is GVWP?
Great Valley Writing Project is a large, multifaceted organization that provides MANY different programs and services. (GVWP Writing & Technology Workshops, Demo Labs, and other community-funded programs represent just one aspect of the total GVWP outreach.)
WHAT IS GVWP? Great Valley Writing Project is a state-chartered, nonprofit organization that is housed at CSU Stanislaus and serves educators and students in Calaveras, San Joaquin, Stanislaus, and Tuolumne counties. Originally chartered in 1983, Great Valley Writing Project is one of the oldest Writing Project sites in the nation. GVWP is a founding member of the California Writing Project and the National Writing Project. THE MISSION Great Valley Writing Project assembles and enriches the knowledge, expertise, and leadership of educators, and focuses those resources on sustained efforts to improve writing and learning in all schools. UNIQUE ELEMENTS OF GVWP PROGRAMS:
Despite drastic cuts in government funding, Great Valley Writing Project continues to operate with support from public and private grants, largely due to a network of skilled and experienced educators who recognize that TEACHERS are the key to educational reform. Many GVWP programs for teachers are now funded by businesses and philanthropists in the communities they serve. For more information, go to our GVWP Community-Funded Programs page. If you are interested in becoming a financial sponsor or want more information about how these community dollars are spent, please contact Melissa King. <[email protected]> PERSONAL IMPACT
