Rose Thomson Supervising Coach & Webmaster Rose Thomson is a third year coach for the Writing and Technology Workshop. She works for the program as Head Coach, Photo Manager, photographer. She graduated from Escalon High School and is currently a third year student at California State University, Sacramento as an English Major.She enjoys working for the program as it gives her insight to the responsibilities of an English teacher. Rose wants to be an English high school teacher when she graduates. She enjoys reading, swimming and listening to music.
Meredith Perkins Asst. Publications Mgr. & 7-12 Anthology Editor Meredith recently graduated from Arizona State University. She completed her senior year graduating Cum Laude, with a Bachelors degree in Speech and Hearing Sciences. She plans to attend San Jose State University in the fall to pursue a teaching credential in early childhood special education. She will pursue a Masters degree in Speech Language Pathology, thereafter. Meredith has entered the program as Administrative Assistant and has been thrilled working with her fellow coaches and professionals. In her free time, she enjoys playing and coaching soccer and volleyball, playing piano, working out, and creating good conversation with a variety of people.
Raegan Wright K-3 Webmaster & Anthology Editor Raegan Wright is a sophomore at East Union in Manteca. She is the Sophomore Class President there and she enjoys spending time in leadership and serving her school. She is the watergirl for the JV football team and she is also planning on trying out for the swim team. After high school she plans on going to a four year college to study for being an orthopedic doctor. She has been in the program for 2 years; one as a student and one as a senior coach. This year in the program she is training to be an anthology manager and the snack distributor.
Daniel Acosta K-2 Website Editor & K-2 Anthology Editor This is Daniel’s first year coaching, but he has attended the workshops three times. He is a sophomore at Ripon High and plays tennis and basketball. Daniel has always enjoyed helping kids and taking photos. In his off-time, Daniel enjoys sleeping, listening to music, making YouTube videos, playing Xbox, and playing guitar and screaming for his band.
Carissa Seth Photo Manager & the 4-6 Anthology Editor This is Carissa Seth’s third year working at the GVWP Writing and Technology Workshop, and she is working as the photographer and photo manager. Additionally, Carissa brings the kindergarten through third graders snack, takes pictures, crops and tags pictures, and puts them on the website. Carissa has a great passion for writing and has received awards for a number of writing contests over the years – most recently, honorable mention for a personal narrative in the Scholastic Writing Contest. Last year, Carissa was a teacher’s assistant for GVWP After School Writing Club at Fox Road Elementary (Grades 4-5) in Hughson. Carissa will be a sophomore next year at Hughson High School, and is involved in many school activities, including cross country, track, concert band, pep band, and jazz band. She also has been a contributing cartoonist and photographer for the HHS newspaper The Paw. In terms of potential careers, Carissa is interested in the helping professions and is considering teaching or medical professions in the future.
Emily Felt Week One Photo Manager Emily is entering her junior year at Sierra High School. This is her third year coaching for the Great Valley Writing Program. This year Emily’s positions were Photo Manager, Head Photographer, and Snack Distributor. Emily is very active in her community and has a passion for music. She is a part of Sierra High’s “In Harmony” Advanced choir, and “Enchords” (a group of 6-8 girls that sing four part harmony). In the Fall, Emily will work as Secretary for the “In Harmony” choir and will audition for Regional/ All State Choir in October. After High School, Emily hopes to serve a mission for the Mormon Church and go to college to become a high school teacher or an opera singer.
Emmitt Marshal 3rd Grade Website Editor & 3rd Grade Anthology Editor Emmitt Marshal Grayson Jr. is a sophomore going into his junior year. He enjoys video games, sports, and long walks on the beach. He does football, wrestling, and track. He gets average grades and is involved in many extracurricular activities. He enjoys reading science-fiction and stories and some romance novels, because he enjoys reading about things that will probably never happen. His three favorite genres of music are Rap, Rock, and Classical. His job consists of taking pictures of the K-3rd grade children, creating student web pages for the third grade classroom, and assisting with student supervision.
Seth Lozano Webpage Editor & Junior Coach Seth is going into his freshman year at East Union High School in Manteca. Seth has been in the writing program for two years.Seth’s job in the program is to shadow the senior coaches so he will be prepared for next year as a senior coach. In eighth grade, Seth took Spanish one at East Union. Seth went to New Haven Elementary in Manteca and he played on the New Haven volleyball and track team. In his free time, he enjoys reading suspenseful and mystery books. He will be going into Spanish two during his freshman year, he is also going into geometry and English honors.
